THE TRUE COST
If you haven't seen the documentary "The True Cost" you need to watch it now. Directed by Andrew Morgan it shows the consequences our addiction to fast fashion is having on our environment and the people who make them. The film captures exploitation, distress and the horrible conditions in which these garment makers have to work in. Some making as low as 3 dollars a day, these workers are subjected to beatings and abuse from their bosses. So who is behind all this, in the world of fashion hierarchy the large corporate business run the show. They hire these shops in places like Cambodia and Bangladesh to make low quality clothing at a fast rate and sell them at affordable prices, but someone is paying the high price. The pollution that the factories are letting out as well as the clothing covered landfills taking over our land are endangering our environment. So what is the solution, sustainability. I don't want to give to much away "The True Cost" is streaming on Netflix right now, it is a learning experience of todays fashion reality.
